People I Admire

I'll say I admire many people. I've come to know probably thousands of people here on the mission. But some just stick out more than others. And the thing I love about it is that many of them are people that I don't know very well. They're people who I can admire from afar because I can see who they are through their actions. So today I've decided to highlight a few. I probs won't mention them by name but I'll give you a brief overview.
One is the primary president of this ward in Vista Hermosa. This lady I believe is from Indonesia, grew up in New York, and is now living in Guatemala. She doesn't know a lot of Spanish. But I'm thoroughly amazed at her efforts to learn the language and communicate with the parents and the children of the ward. She may not understand what's going on part of the time in ward council but she truly does love the children and makes an effort to make sure they're cared for.
The other is the seminary teacher of Mita. She's a spunky one that hermana. She is one of the top judges/lawyers for the departamento (state) but somehow she still finds time to teach the youth, get her ministering done (all the families under her care are well taken care of), and be an active part of church and community.
Another is the bishops wife in Tesoro. She was always there. At every single meeting, reunion, activity there was in and outside of the church. It didn't matter if her husband was there or not. But she was always there.
The last one I want to mention is the young womens president of Venezuela. She's a language teacher of Spanish and Portuguese at one of the universties. That woman took care of her girls like they were her own daughters. She loved them and would visit them with us to make sure they were ok. And really just always made sure they were progressing.
And really more than anything I love the mission because it gives me the chance to know people and to really learn from them. I'm finding, or more like remembering, that the point of this life is to learn. I've always been more of a hands on learner anyway so this mission thing has really helped me a ton. But anyway my people I challenge you as a missionary ('cause that's my job) to notice the people around you and learn from them. It's an amazing opportunity that I feel like we don't often times take advantage of. Anyway that's what I've got for you peeps this week! Hasta luego!
